About us
KOINONIA means fellowship.
Our mission is simple: help Catholics and the spiritually curious in West LA find their people. Not a parish, not a program — a community that takes the faith seriously and takes itself a lot less seriously.
It started with a familiar ache. You bump into Catholics everywhere in this city — the coffee shop, the office, the hiking trail — but somehow the pews stay thin and the loneliness stays real. So we built the thing we were looking for: church tours that double as nights out, a feed where prayer requests get answered by name, and events you'd actually text a friend about.
We are lifelong Catholics. We are people finding our way back after a long time away. We are converts, we are in RCIA, we are the just-curious. We are agnostics, we are atheists, we are people who would say they are spiritual but allergic to religion — asking the big questions without being judged for them. We are new to LA and we are third generation Angelenos. Same table. Nobody has to qualify for it.
No pressure, no quizzes, no one checking whether you remembered the response. Come to a church tour or a taco night, say hi in the feed, and see what it feels like to have your people again.

"We're not trying to be a parish website. We're trying to be the group you're glad you found."
What we do
Three ways we actually gather.
Church tours
We visit the churches of West LA one at a time — St. Monica, St. Paul, St. Martin, St. Mark, and more. We hear the history, take the photos, and film it vertically.
Real community
A private feed where members post photos, ask for prayer, and make actual plans. Not a bulletin board — a group chat with better manners.
Events that are actually fun
Mass meetups, taco nights, rooftop socials, beach mornings. The kind of thing you'd text a friend about.
Our goals
Where we're going.
Help everyone find their parish
Honest, cinematic write-ups of the churches around us, real mass times, and members who will tell you straight where the community is alive — so nobody drifts through LA without a spiritual home.
Turn Mass into friendship
A Mass meetup shouldn't end at the final blessing. We build the after — coffee, tacos, a walk on the pier — so the people you pray next to become the people you call.
Make room for the big questions
Doubt is welcome at this table. Whether you believe, are coming back after years away, or aren't sure what you think yet, you can ask anything here without being judged for it.
Grow from West LA to all of California
This started in West LA, but the loneliness isn't local. We're building the playbook — tours, feed, events — so Catholics across the state can copy it in their own backyard.
Bringing the fun back
